The Micro Small and medium Enterprises Development institute (MSME DI), Chennai, established in the year 1954, as field level Institute under the Ministry of MSME, Government of India. Office of DC(MSME) is the apex body for formulating SSI policies in the country and it implements promotional activities through its country wide network of MSME DIs, Br. MSME DIs, Field Testing Stations, Prototype Development Centres and Tool Rooms etc.,

    MSME DI, Chennai assists existing and prospective entrepreneurs by providing techno-managerial consultancy services and training in various areas. Br. MSME DI, Coimbatore and Tuticorin with an attached Workshop at Tirunelveli were established in the years 1984.

Financial and marketing support services - by involving key stakeholders (Bankers,Infrastructure      Providers,Corporate, NGOs etc.) Emphasis on Micro,Tiny and Labour intensive enterprises

Working closely with Industry Associations, State Government bodies and other stakeholders in developing      existing enterprises on cluster mode

Organise regularly the need based technical and soft skill up gradation programmes

MSME-DI Chennai is working out a model by employing information and communication technology in a big way      throughout the state in order

    MSME DI, Chennai is the only government agency selected by UNIDO not only as the meeting point and the instrument of regulation between the supply and the demand of industrial subcontracting orders, but also as an instrument of assistance to both partners, particularly the small and medium supplier or sub-contracting enterprises.
